With St Patrick's Day in our sights....

That time of year is upon us once more, and The Craic Horse are busy getting their act together in time to entertain all you craic addicts for 15 sets across 9 gigs at 7 different venues! Sadly, there will be no international gigs this year, but those of you in Singapore are in for a treat!

What to expect this year? Well, we are delighted to be back at Muddy Murphy's again at the end of February, to give you all a taster of what is to come in March.. and then we'll be doing a very special acoustic set on 1st March at Féile 25, a family Irish festival being held at the Australian International School. Féile 25 will also have performances by some very good friends, including Gan Ainm and the Irish Inspirational Dancers, as well as a trad session, a guided ceili dance, kids activities and food & drink. Tickets are $8 per adult and $3 per child (or $20 for a family pass) and can be bought at https://www.comhaltassingapore.org/

As we get closer to St Patrick's Day we will be doing our usual warm up at The British Club on Thursday 13th, before opening the annual St Patrick's Street Festival on Friday 14th. Across that weekend we'll be very busy, debuting at both The Tanglin Club and Hero's Bar, as well as heading back to our old haunt Molly Malone's. Having opened the Street Festival, we also have the privilege of headlining the main stage on the final day, Sunday 16th, after it has been graced by several other fantastic acts including Gan Ainm and Boys from the County Hell... but we're not done there!

St Patrick's Day this year falls on a Monday for the first time in 11 years, which means we get to prolong the weekend just a little... and are looking forward to rounding off an epic month on Monday 17th at Molly Malone's, with support from fantastic soloist Kevin McCabe.

All in all, it's looking like the party of the year, so make sure you head along to a few of the sets and raise a glass to St Pat with us!

Getting back in the saddle...

So..... it's been a while since we posted. There's been a fair bit going on in the world, but gigging hasn't been a part of that (at least not for us). We did put together and play a Virtual St Patrick's Festival online in 2021, with performances from friends in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, but that was pretty much it. Then early this year we got the bombshell that Zac, our drummer of four years, would be leaving to head back to the US...

Thankfully Singapore brought back live music in April, just in time for us to give Zac one last hurrah with the band. We were a little rusty, but it all came back to us - and the audience turnout was absolutely brilliant!

Of course, if we wanted to really get gigging again we needed to fill the drummer vacancy asap... and it just so happened that our old friend Kunal had finished his degree and moved back to Singapore! Once again welcoming him into the fold, we got busy teaching him our newer material (and relearning some of his old favourites).

With a couple of dates already in the diary we had to work fast to get back up to speed, before hitting the ground running back at our old haunt Molly Malone's for their 27th Anniversary - and what a gig that was! You could feel the whole building move with the dancing and singing along. It was an atmosphere close to St Pat's, just on a random Thursday in September....

No resting on our laurels, just last weekend we were back for the Singapore Formula 1 gig, with some brand new material in our back pockets, and we already have more dates lined up from here to St Patrick's Day next year... so do subscribe to our social media for updates, because you don't want to miss us!

See you all very soon - Sláinte

It's St Pat's, so come dance!

Keep on Craic-ing on with us this Paddy's weekend!

***UPDATE 18/03***  With the increased health risks at this time, we have decided in conjunction with Muddy Murphy's that we will not proceed with the gig on 25th March. Please stay safe all, and we will see you all soon!

Getting ahead of ourselves...

April was, unsurprisingly, a bit of a quieter time for the band.... a time to catch up with family and rest those weary fingers.... a time to spend our hard earned gig money on more frivolous toys for our instruments.... and a time to reflect on the past and plan for the future....

....on which note, we have some news for you! The programme for our next few gigs is taking shape, slowly but surely, kicking off with a return to Molly Malone's on June 21st. It's always a fun evening at our spiritual stable, and we look forward to seeing you all there!

But then, the following weekend, we will make our BeerFest Asia debut! Yes, The Craic Horse are playing in a tent full of beer from all over the world. What could possibly go wrong? We heartily recommend you come down and join us on the family friendly Sunday 30th afternooon... we'll confirm our exact start time as soon as we know, but in the meantime you can get tickets at https://www.beerfestasia.com/

Into August, we have a gig lined up for a very special group of friends - more on that to follow once the details are confirmed - and of course, in September expect to see us doing a post-F1 party on Circular Road once more.

With a trip to play in Thailand for Big Nev's 60th birthday in October, followed by plans for another Hong Kong visit in November, it's shaping up to be a bumper year.... hope you can join us for most (if not all) of it!!

March Madness....

So, that was an epic month.... our Hong Kong debut plus the usual shenanigans in Singapore, both of which kept us pretty busy (understatement of the year...).

If you follow us on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter (and you should!) you may have seen a few photos and videos of us doing what we do best, and if you were lucky enough to be at any of our shows we really hope you will upload your photos / videos and tag us, or just email them to us and we will share with the world!

In the meantime.... here is a taste of one of the gigs inside Molly Malone's, which I hope will be repeated somewhat when we head back there tonight for our last gig of the month...

Hope we see you all soon! Sláinte!

And when you do see us, please do tag us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and whatever other cool social media platforms spring up and become trendy over the weekend.....

Like us please! Go on, go on, go on! Ye will, ye will, ye will!

International Bright Young(ish) Things!

Yeah, I know, we keep promising to post more often, but we're always too busy rehearsing (read, down the pub)....

That said, the band have been putting together some craic-ing new songs, and this year we get to showcase them all on foreign shores as well as our usual Singapore shenanigans! So if you are in Hong Kong or Singapore, check out our tour dates (on the Gigs page) and get down to see us. We even have tour t-shirts this year - look at us!!!

In the mean time, here are a few new pictures from our recent photoshoot, courtesy of Jonty! Don't we make a handsome bunch....? Don't we........?

New Look, New Material!

Well, not that new.... we have had this look since Kunal left to be replaced by Zac on the drums in time for this year's St. Pat's.... and the "new" songs are actually pretty old trad songs, although we are certainly taking a new approach to them.

Get down to Molly Malone's tomorrow night (Friday 6th) and check it out!

We don't post much, do we!?

Yes, it has been almost a year between posts - again. And we are only posting to say we have a new guitarist - again. And a gig coming up that you can check him out at - again.

We don't get out of the stable much, it must be said, but we are making a concerted effort to play a little bit more than just the St Patrick's weekend.... so first up is this coming Friday (February 3rd) at Molly Malone's on Circular Road!

Sadly Kyle had to leave back to the USA, but Alex, Nev, Zhong Ren and Kunal have been hard at work in the studio with new boy Jordan to bring him up to speed, and to introduce some craic-ing new songs and tunes to the set. So we hope you can all make it down on Friday - but if not, have no fear! We are also playing at Molly's on March 3rd and then at the St Patrick's Festival from 17th to 19th March!

See you all soon!

The All New Lineup is coming at ya!

The new lineup of The Craic Horse - from left to right:
Kyle (guitar / vox); Zhong Ren (bass); Alex (vox /
fiddle / mando); Nev (whistles / sax); Kunal (drums)
Yep, we know it's been a while since we last posted. But then, it's been a while since we played. With various individuals unable to commit to the band at different times, it gradually dawned on us that we might need to regroup and recruit...

But now we are ready. One gig under the bridge last week as a kind of test run, and now we are raring to go for St. Pat's! With three gigs over the weekend, it's going to be a whole heap of fun at Molly Malone's Irish Pub on Circular Road...

We look forward to seeing you there - where you can meet the new Horses!

What's the Craic?

The Craic Horse have been officially around for almost a year, which is a mere blink of the eye in some respects - but a lifetime in others! During that time literally tens of their fans have asked "why is there no handy website we can visit, for all our Craic addiction needs?"... let it never be said that the lads don't listen to their fans (except when they get requests for Danny Boy), for the page you are now feasting your eyes upon is indeed The Craic Horse website!

But there's more... if you click the link on top that says "The Craic?" you will find yourself faced with a few links, to our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. That way you can have the Craic every day, in so many ways!

There are also links up top that will tell you a bit about the band, introduce you to the lads who play in it, tell you where the gigs are, and take you through to the vids on their YouTube page. Oh, and there is a page all about me too, the horse who made it all possible! You can friend me on Facebook through that page, if you like...

Hope you like the site... I had to take time away from my golf practice to get it all set up. But if you have any suggestions on how I can improve it, feedback is welcome - just email me!

Right... back to the fairways!

Sláinte mhaith,

Craic Horsey

Counting down...

It's only 16 days until the Singapore St Patrick's Street Festival (where The Craic Horse are the headline act on the first day)... those of you who were there last year know the insanity that ensues, and those of you who don't...? Well, you need to be there!

Between now and then, the lads are trying out their new set at Molly Malone's on March 6th... which will also double as their first anniversary party! Yes, The Craic Horse made their official debut at an open mic session at the Hard Rock Cafe on March 9th 2014, so come down and help them enjoy their own party.... before the craziness of the St Pat's Fest starts!
