The Lads

Alex: vox / fiddle / mando / dapper gent
This is Alex. This whole malarkey was kind of his idea, after he left his old band of eight years. He thought that, rather than look for other folk musicians, why not look for people with talent in other genres and see what they could add to the mix? He wanted to do something with a bit more "oomph", and so looked towards the punks, the rockers and the indie kids, experimenting with the sounds as he went... until The Craic Horse reached the stage you see them at today - a folk-rock-punk-funk anything-goes hybrid beast! And, boy, does that beast roar!

Nev: whistles / sax / tad eccentric
Now, this is Nev, who used to play with Alex in the aforementioned old band. Alex approached him with his crazy scheme, and he just shrugged and said "yeah, why not?" He takes these things in his stride, does our Nev. It's been a bit of a change of pace for him - trying to hear his penny whistle over a heavily over-driven guitar does make gigging a little more complicated, after all - but he's the rock solid musical heart of the band, and the rest of them know it!

Zhong Ren: bass / vox / totally chill
This fella here is Zhong Ren, who joined the band "temporarily" as a stand-in for St Patrick's Weekend 2015! A veteran of the Singapore indie scene having been part of the power trio Basement In My Loft, Zhong Ren is also a singer-songwriter (under the pseudonym Halcyon) and an accomplished cellist, making guest appearances with some of Singapore's top artists. A chameleon on the bass, he turns his hand to whatever genre the band is flirting with and delivers a rock solid backbone to some thumping good songs!

Jordan: guitar / vox / occasional corset
This is where I am going to write something terribly humorous about Jordan, once he clues me in to the stupid things he has done in his past. Of course, I could just make it all up, like that time he "accidentally" walked on stage without his trousers, or the numerous album credits he has under the pseudonym "Jazz Hands MacGee". But I would not be that cruel. I have met his mother, after all, and she seems nice. At least, I think it was his mother, but with his penchant for corsets, who knows..... There is a reason we call him 50 shades of beige....

Kunal: drums / second comings
And finally... having originally played in the band from 2016-17, Kunal left to go and do some studying in the UK, presumably to finally learn to play the drums. Having now mastered two sides of the triangle, he returned at the end of 2022 to a heroes welcome the great relief of the rest of the band who were not looking forward to auditioning anyone else whilst getting back up to speed post-pandemic! As the designated timekeeper of the band, the most consistent aspect of said timekeeping is his ability to be tardy to rehearsals, but as the rest of the band always say, better late than needing to be replaced.
